Nature's Mysteries; Foxes and Rabbits: Life on the San Juan Prairie

The park’s foxes and rabbits make their homes in close proximity to one another in the American Camp prairie as they have done since the early 20th century, and both are interesting and complex creatures. Join us as we take a look at these island neighbors, their histories, and their interactions.

Ranger Jeff is in his 7th year with the National Park Service, having left retirement to pursue his lifelong goal of being a National Park Ranger. He works as an Interpretive Ranger at both American Camp and English Camp, having served here for the last six years. Prior to coming to San Juan, Jeff served in Yosemite NP, Great Smoky Mountains NP, and Yellowstone NP. Jeff’s passion is the outdoors, and in particular our national parks where he spends much of his free time. He has three children who live in the East, and his partner Leslie who keeps him busy in winter months in California. Interesting fact: Jeff is an amateur apiarist.
